Geography's Impact on Advancement of Society
Today in class I watched a movie that is based on a book called Guns, Germs, and Steel. This Movie talked mainly about Papa New Guinea and its history, as well as other places around the world. During the movie we had to take notes on interesting things in the movie, then at the end we gave a title to our notes. My name was the title of this post, Geography's Impact on Advancement of Society. I gave it this name, because throughout the movie the narrator talked about the crops and land of Papa New Guinea. They made connections with the crops, and the advancement of civilization today. When they compared the crops of Papa New Guinea to Europe and the America's, Europe and the America's crops were more nutritious and better. Then, when you compared the advancement of technology in New Guinea and Europe and the America's, Europe and the America's were more advanced. Therefore, the geography of the land obviously contributed to different areas to be more advanced. You also needed more food to feed specialist and take care of them. Food takes up a lot of time and money, and it is difficult for a developing country like Papa New Guinea to fit the requirerments of an advanced society.

THIS IS MITSU. I THINK IT IS GREAT BUT I THINK THE MOVIE ALSO TALKED ABOUT MIDDLE EAST AND JUST AND ADVICE YOU COULD MAKE THE FONT BIGGER AND CHANGE THE COLOR FOR A BETTER VIEW. OVERALL IT SUMMARIZES THE ACTIVITY WE HAD IN CLASS. SO... GREAT PARAGRAPH.
I really think that this is a really good piece of work. Your ideas were clear through your explinations and details. I agree with mitsu and i think that you could make the fond bigger and change the color for a better view. I really think that it summarized everything. Great Job!!
Hi!
This is Sun Hae...I liked your post! It was great! But I agree with Mitsu that you should make the font bigger and change color for a better veiw. Otherwise, you had great transitions and descriptions. Nice Job!
I love your picture. You wrote so much. It is awsome. one question: how do you get the pictures
Anissa,
Again, great posting. Let's take it and your thinking further.
If civilization is continuing to advance and as you say geography impacts this advancement, is there a point at which geography or the land says...no more? Does geography become a disadvantage at any point AFTER the society has become a civilization?
Also, you seem to grasp how civilizations grow....how might they fall? Try to explore that.
Lastly, if this interests you, perhaps you should check out the book, "Guns, Germs, and Steel" from the library. I have a copy, too, if you want it.
